FIRE ON NORTH SIDE OF DEFIANCE MONDAY NIGHT BRINGS MULTIPLE DEPARTMENTS

A fire on the north side of Defiance Monday night sent multiple departments to the scene. The first call indicated a gas leak at Jersey’s Restaurant on North Clinton Street around 9:15pm; but an employee on the scene then reported there was a fire in the kitchen area of the establishment. At least 8 fire departments were dispatched for response, and some were on the scene for well over 3 hours, including Defiance City Fire Department, Highland Township, South Richland, Noble Township, Jewell, Delaware Township, and Napoleon City Fire Department.  Sherwood Fire crews helped Defiance, in the event of other emergencies.The extent of damage in the blaze is unknown at this time.
