Defiance County Prosecuting Attorney, Morris J. Murray, has released the following information regarding recent Indictments returned by a Defiance County Grand Jury on August 19, 2025:
Among those Indicted was 38-year-old Travis M. Hussey, of Defiance, for multiple sex offenses involving a juvenile.
Travis M. Hussey, age 38, 217 Maywinn Rd., Defiance, was indicted for Ten Counts of Rape, each a Felony of the First Degree, and One Count of Gross Sexual Imposition, a Felony of the Third Degree. Authorities allege that from October 1, 2021, through July 31, 2022, at residences in Defiance, Hussey engaged in sexual conduct with a child, under the age of ten, multiple times. Authorities further allege that, on August 11, 2025, Hussey also had sexual contact, with a juvenile under the age of thirteen.
Other Indictments Included:
John D. Martinez, age 46, 16515 Co Rd 8, Defiance, was indicted for One Count of Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol, a Drug of Abuse or a Combination of Them, a Felony of the Fourth Degree. Authorities allege that on July 27, 2025, on Clinton St., in Defiance, Martinez operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, and he also has five prior OVI convictions within the past twenty years.
David R. Winnie, age 56, 7226 Charlotte Dr., Knoxville, TN, was indicted for One Count of Non-Support of Dependents, a Felony of the Fifth Degree. Authorities allege that Winnie failed to provide support, as required by Court order, for his child, under the age of eighteen, from January 12, 2023, through January 11, 2025.
David R. Winnie, age 56, 7226 Charlotte Dr., Knoxville, TN, was indicted for Two Counts of Non-Support of Dependents, each a Felony of the Fifth Degree. Authorities allege that Winnie failed to provide support, as required by Court order, for his child, under the age of eighteen, from January 1, 2020, through December 31, 2023.
James Curry, age 39, 309 Lee Ave., Holgate, was indicted for One Count of Failure to Comply with an Order or Signal of a Police Officer, a Felony of the Third Degree, One Count of Aggravated Possession of Drugs, a Felony of the Fifth Degree, and One Count of Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol, a Drug of Abuse, or a Combination of them, a Misdemeanor of the First Degree. Authorities allege that on August 3, 2025, Curry operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, and he fled from a traffic stop on Clinton St., in Defiance, and created a substantial risk of serious physical harm to persons or property in the area. Authorities also allege that once Curry was stopped and taken into custody, he was found in possession of Methamphetamine, a Schedule II drug.
Holly L. Fry, age 41, 1746 Greenhouse Ave., Apt. 2, Defiance, was indicted for One Count of Possession of Cocaine, a Felony of the Fifth Degree, and One Count of Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol, a Drug of Abuse, or a Combination of them, a Misdemeanor of the First Degree. Authorities allege that on July 22, 2025, Fry operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, on Squires Ave., in Defiance, and during a traffic stop, she was found to be in possession of Cocaine.
Kenneth E. Liddle, age 46, Q147 Co Rd 17, Napoleon, was indicted for One Count of Grand Theft, a Felony of the Fourth Degree. Authorities allege that from April 7-14, 2025, Liddle stole property valued at over seven thousand five hundred dollars, but less than one hundred fifty thousand dollars, from a business on S. Clinton St., in Defiance.
Alexander R. Coleman, age 30, 2130 Anoka St., Flint, MI, was indicted for One Count of Theft, a Felony of the Fifth Degree. Authorities allege that on June 19, 2025, Coleman stole property valued at over one thousand dollars, but less than seven thousand five hundred dollars, from a business on N. Clinton St., in Defiance.
Matthew J. Berry, age 26, 700 Summit St., Defiance, was indicted for One Count of Assault, a Felony of the Fourth Degree. Authorities allege that on August 10, 2025, Berry caused or attempted to cause physical harm to a law enforcement officer who responded to an emergency on E. Second St., in Defiance.
Matthew L. Justice, age 39, 311 E. Smith St., Hicksville, was indicted for One Count of Menacing by Stalking, a Felony of the Fourth Degree. Authorities allege that on or about August 10, 2025, in Hicksville, Justice engaged in a pattern of conduct that caused mental distress to another and caused the victim to believe that he would cause them or their family serious physical harm, and Justice also has a prior felony conviction for Menacing by Stalking.
Tanner J. Gipple, age 28, 215 Spencerville St., Hicksville, was indicted for One Count of Strangulation, a Felony of the Third Degree, and One Count of Strangulation, a Felony of the Fourth Degree. Authorities allege that on August 11, 2025, at his residence on Spencerville St., in Hicksville, Gipple created a substantial risk of serious physical harm to another by means of strangulation or suffocation. Authorities further allege that Gipple also caused or created a substantial risk of physical harm to a family or household member by means of strangulation or suffocation.
Kyle M. Baden, age 39, 1101 Wilhelm St., Defiance, was indicted for One Count of Domestic Violence and One Count of Strangulation, each a Felony of the Fourth Degree. Authorities allege that on August 12, 2025, at his residence on Wilhelm St., in Defiance, Baden caused or attempted to cause physical harm to a family or household member, and he also caused or created a substantial risk of physical harm to the victim by means of strangulation or suffocation. Authorities further allege that Baden also has a prior Domestic Violence conviction.
Audrey M. Miler, age 31, 114 N. Harrison Ave., Apt. F, Sherwood, was indicted for One Count of Tampering with Evidence, a Felony of the Third Degree, and One Count of Aggravated Possession of Drugs, a Felony of the Fifth Degree. Authorities allege that on August 13, 2025, during a traffic stop on US 127, in Sherwood, Miler was found in possession of Methamphetamine, a Schedule II drug. Authorities further allege that during said traffic stop, Miler tampered with items that were potential evidence, with purpose to impair those items for availability as evidence in this matter, knowing that an official proceeding or investigation was in progress.
Brendan R. Metz, age 18, 2416 St Rt 18, Hicksville, was indicted for Two Counts of Gross Sexual Imposition, each a Felony of the Fourth Degree. Authorities allege that on May 17, 2025, at his residence on St Rt 18, in Hicksville, Metz had sexual contact with another who he compelled to submit by force or threat of force.
Lesley J. Quarles II, age 45, 401 Franklin St., Defiance, was indicted for One Count of Burglary, a Felony of the Second Degree. Authorities allege that on July 30, 2025, Quarles forced entry into an occupied residence on Hawthorne Dr., in Defiance, with purpose to commit a criminal offense while inside the residence.
Thomas J. Cluster, age 69, 7100 Ulmerton Rd., Lot 2132, Largo, FL, was indicted for One Count of Rape, a Felony of the First Degree. Authorities allege that in August of 2020, on Ridenour St., in Edgerton, Cluster engaged in sexual conduct with another who he compelled to submit by force or threat of force.
Nicole V. Shugars, age 37, 210 W. Edgerton St., Hicksville, was indicted for One Count of Failure to Provide Notice of Change in Vehicle Information or Identifiers, a Felony of the Fourth Degree. Authorities allege that from March 20, 2025, through August 5, 2025, Shugars, a registered sex offender, failed to notify the sheriff’s office of her change in internet identifiers, as required, and Shugars is a registered sex offender who was convicted of Attempted Complicity to Unlawful Sexual Conduct with a Minor in 2014.
Arraignments are scheduled for Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 9 a.m.
