Ohio Hall of Fame Basketball Coach Richard Kortokrax, the winningest coach in Ohio basketball history, passed away peacefully this (Sat.) morning surrounded by his family. Coach Kortokrax was 91 years of age.
His 1981 Kalida Wildcats won the state boys basketball championship; and he took three other teams to the Ohio hoop final four. Kalida finished runner-up in the state in 1988 and 2009.
Coach Kortokrax was known for his in-depth scouting, and teaching the fundamentals of the game as he mentored young men for decades.
