Babysitter Stabs Three-Year-Old Girl To Death In Las Vegas

Las Vegas police have arrested a babysitter accused of fatally stabbing a three-year-old girl early Wednesday morning (March 26). According to Lt. Robert Price of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. when a man called 911, reporting that his babysitter had stabbed his child and fled the scene. Officers arrived to find the man and his daughter, who had suffered multiple stab wounds. The child was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Marketta Lucresha Phillips, was located and arrested by police. Lt. Price described the event as "an isolated incident" and called it "a very tragic and unfortunate incident."

Local residents expressed shock and disbelief at the crime scene in their neighborhood. Anthony Dominguez, a neighbor, shared his sadness, telling KTNV, "That was really sad to me in the morning, hearing that a child’s life was taken here where I live."

Another neighbor expressed concern for the family, hoping for divine support during this difficult time.

Phillips was charged with open murder with a deadly weapon and was ordered remanded without bail.

The police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
