DECEMBER 2020 UNEMPLOYMENT RISES IN NW OHIO, LOWER THAN STATE AVERAGE

Despite a decline around the state, Northwest Ohio unemployment rates nudged upward in the November report. Every county in the region though, was below the state average jobless rate of 5.7%.

Henry County saw their rate climb from 4.2 to 4.8% for November, which was highest in the four county area. Fulton County increased from 3.9 to 4.2%, while Defiance County moved from 4.3 to 4.7%.Even Putnam County, with the lowest unemployment in the region at 3.2% for November, was up slightly from the previous month. Despite the slight increase for November, every county in Northwest Ohio was within 1% of the unemployment they recorded before the pandemic last year at this time.

Around Ohio, the lowest jobless rate was Holmes County at 2.4%; while Noble County posted the highest unemployment rate at 7.3%.
