GREEN MEADOWS CONFERENCE VOTES TO REMOVE HOLGATE FROM THE LEAGUE

In a special meeting of the Green Meadows Conference executive board, which includes the school principals, the GMC has voted to remove Holgate from the league.The session took place in Defiance, and a motion was made and seconded for this action.A vote was taken, and the majority of schools voted to drop Holgate from the Green Meadows Conference.

In a statement from the GMC, they stated the action to remove Holgate was in the best interest of the league, and for Holgate.Holgate has been part of the Green Meadows Conference for over 50 years, and the executive committee thanked them for their years of friendly competition and membership.They stated they wished the best in the future to the community, administration, coaches and student-athletes.

In the coming months, the GMC will be discussing the process for membership recruitment that would be in the best interests for all sports and schools in the conference.

The Holgate School Board is holding a special meeting this evening to discuss this situation, and possibly to review the invitation from the Buckeye Border Conference, which is still on the table.
