DEFIANCE LAW OFFICERS APPREHEND WOULD BE CAR THIEVES

A check on a suspicious vehicle early this (Mon.) morning on the north side of Defiance led to a pursuit and apprehension of would-be car thieves.A Defiance County deputy discovered the suspicious activity at Stykemain’s along Elliot Road at 1:22am.One subject fled the scene, and was located by a Defiance Police officer.The suspect fled in a stolen vehicle from the scene in a pursuit that travelled through Defiance County, Henry County, and into Wood County.Eventually the driver and others were taken into custody, and charges have been filed.They include 20 year old Kaleigh Fletcher of Springfield, Ohio, and 22 year old Barryn McDonnel of Rolla, Missouri- both charged with Breaking and Entering.23 year old Christian Malzahn of Springfield, Ohio was charged with Receiving Stolen Property, and Failure to Comply with an Officer.The Defiance County Prosecutor is reviewing the case to see if other charges are warranted.
