CONGRESSMAN LATTA VOTES FOR NEW FARM BILL

5TH District Congressman Bob Latta joined his colleagues in the U.S. House of Representatives this week in passing the 2018 Farm Bill, also known as the Agriculture and Nutrition Act.   Latta says this legislation supports area farmers by keeping in place important crop insurance programs that allow producers to purchase policies that protect them against financial ruin by disease, drought, or catastrophic events.

The bill also prioritizes working-lands conservation, and encourages partnership at the watershed level to protect Lake Erie.             Congressman Latta also submitted an amendment that would allow for technology to be utilized in precision agriculture.                     Another part of the bill requires work-capable individuals to get a job, or to participate in work-training in order to receive nutrition benefits.
