After a recommendation to move forward from the Napoleon parks and recreation committee, Napoleon Council has given staff the go-ahead to proceed with the ‘pocket park’ proposal in the downtown.   The green space in the 100 block of West Washington Street was donated by the Derrow family.   The space between downtown buildings will likely include a picnic area, and place to enjoy lunch for those in Napoleon.


Napoleon Council approved a new contract Monday night with the high school for NC-TV.


                                    Specs were approved for a new ambulance needed by the Napoleon Fire and Rescue, with the cost estimated at $138,000.


            And Gerken Paving was awarded the bid for improvements to various streets in Napoleon.                       It looks like the parking lot construction will be delayed at the corner of Perry and Main Streets in Napoleon.   They were hoping to have that project completed by the Tomato Festival parade next month; but the contractor had a hold-up with a project in PutnamCounty due to weather.  This will also delay the coating that was going to be applied to the adjacent building for long-term protection.


Napoleon Council went into executive session to discuss discipline of an employee; but no action was taken.
