The highway patrol investigated a couple of traffic accidents on Monday in northwest Ohio. The first occurred at 3:25pm yesterday in DefianceCounty, at the intersection of Buckskin and Mulligansbluff Roads, about 6 miles west of Defiance. 48 year old Tina Calvin of Sherwood was operating a Volkswagen Beetle, and drove through a stop-sign. Her car was struck by a van driven by 46 year old James McCavit. Tina Calvin sustained serious injuries in the collision; and was transported by air ambulance to the ToledoHospital, where she is listed in stable condition. James McCavit and his passenger, Michael McCavit were both transported to the DefianceRegionalMedicalCenter, and were treated and released.
Two drivers from Swanton were injured in a crash on state route 295 in LucasCounty last evening at 5:47pm. 34 year old Derek Molina of Swanton was transported by Life Flight to St. VincentMedicalCenter in Toledo; while 35 year old Corrie Nijakowski was taken to St. Luke’s hospital in Maumee.
Napoleon Police made an arrest Monday morning around 9am at 12990 Independence Drive. Officers were responding to a domestic dispute; and charged 30 year old Matthew Rhoads of Napoleon with Domestic Violence. Rhoads was transported to Municipal Court for an appearance on Monday.
