A new 3-year contract has been approved between the Henry County Engineer’s office, and their bargaining unit at the highway garage. This agreement impacts about 15 employees at the highway garage, and includes a 2% wage increase for each of the next three years. Employees will pay a bigger percentage of their health care costs over that period. That contract was approved by the Henry County Commissioners on Tuesday.
The Henry County Board authorized an application for their third grant to help fund the second Maumee RiverBridge project. This money would help pay for detailed design of the span, that would carry traffic from Industrial Drive on the north side, to state route 110 on the south side, adjacent to the Campbell Soup plant. This project still requires permits from the EPA and Army Corp of Engineers. This summer, a barge will be placed on the Maumee River to facilitate drilling into the river bed, to determine the kind of foundation and piers needed for a new bridge.
The Henry County Commissioners also discussed a request from the local historical society, to move the old gazebo at the fairgrounds to a different location. That request was approved, and requires the historical society to maintain the structure.
