A record 24 Napoleon students were part of the state DECA competition in Columbus recently, and 9 placed in the top-ten of their events. Over 1,900 students were part of the event, representing about 150 chapters in local schools.
Napoleon’s top-5 performances in the state included Caitlyn Spencer taking 3rd in Marketing Management. Jon Smith placed 4th in the state in Food Marketing, while Rhett Arps took 4th in Hospitality and Tourism. And three Wildcats took 5th place in state events: Austin Mahlman, Kasey Dick, Aspen Flood, and Alyssa Norden. Top Ten performances were also turned-in by Meghen Straight and Joe Bernicke.
Those 8 students making the state top-ten is also a record for Napoleon’s DECA program. It’s now on to the national competition in Atlanta, including Quinton Oberhaus, where Napoleon will go against students from 50 states and 8 other countries.
