The new school year begins for Holgate students on Thursday, and a revamped computer lab will greet them.   The Holgate School Board is implementing the NorthwestOhioVirtualAcademy grant, which provides thousands of dollars to 16 school districts in the region, to enhance their offerings for students via on-line learning.

This grant program has been so popular, ten more school districts are seeking to be a part of it.

The Holgate school board approved some overnight trips for the coming school year:  one is for the high school choir, and a trip to Cleveland in mid-October.  The other is for the cheerleaders to compete in nationals in Orlando, Florida next March.

A waiver day has been approved on August 29th, which will be an off-day for Holgate students, and a professional development day for staff.

And the Holgate board approved Joe Pennington as a jv boys basketball coach.
